THE PANEL CONVERSATION / DATA PROTECTION & AI
AI can help us work faster. Our responsibility is to make sure patients remain informed, protected and in control of what matters.
Identify the lawful basis and specific purpose before collecting or using personal data. Health information needs heightened protection.
Share only what is necessary. Remove identifiers and assess whether a person can still be recognised from the context.
Human review, access controls, supplier checks and a clear escalation route remain essential when AI is involved.
Before sharing Check the recipient, purpose and approved channel.
At your workstation Lock the screen, protect credentials and restrict access.
When using AI Use approved tools and assessed workflows. Do not paste identifiable patient records into public AI services.
When something goes wrong Escalate suspected breaches immediately to the designated privacy lead. Preserve evidence.
Conference learning points for RFH, grounded in ODPC guidance. These principles are not a statement that every organisational control has already been implemented. Read the source notes.
AI IN PRACTICE / A LIVE EXAMPLE
This conference site is an example of AI-assisted creation: source material becomes a presentation, clearer pricing and practical learning content.
See how reducing identifiable information changes a synthetic referral summary. No real patient information is used or collected in this demonstration.
A fixed educational example. Redaction alone does not guarantee anonymisation, and this is not a live AI clinical service.
Turn approved referral requirements into a clear, reviewed checklist.
Prepare understandable content for a clinician to verify before sharing.
Use approved data to highlight incomplete workflows for staff review.
These are potential use cases for evaluation, not claims of deployed RFH clinical AI systems.
